Family Coaching
When a child is struggling with substance use, the entire family feels it. At New Foundations Recovery, our Family Coaching is built on a simple truth: recovery isn’t always intuitive, and it doesn’t happen in isolation.
Our Family Coaches provide trusted, steady guidance to help families move out of crisis mode and into clarity, whether or not their loved one is actively engaged in recovery.
Our work is grounded in evidence-based approaches like the CRAFT Model (Center for Motivation & Change) and delivered by professionals who deeply understand the recovery process. Individual Recovery Coaches are Board Certified Peer Support and Recovery Professionals (CPSRP) with their own lived experience, bringing both clinical insight and real-world understanding to the families they support.
Who It’s For & How It Helps: Parents and families of individuals, ages 15-40. Families in Fairfield County, CT; Westchester County, NY; and NYC. Complimentary weekly Family Coaching for families engaged in and committed to the recommended program structure. Optional enhanced support with increased access, check-ins, and crisis guidance.
The result is a calmer home environment, more confident parenting, and a family system that actively supports long-term recovery — while protecting the well-being of everyone involved.
Why Family Coaching Matters for Parents of Teens & Young Adults
Parenting through addiction looks different at every stage. Supporting a dependent minor requires a different approach than supporting a young adult living independently — and many families are never taught how to adapt.
Adolescents are still neurologically developing and deeply impacted by family dynamics, communication patterns, and emotional tone at home. When family systems are disregulated — marked by fear-based reactions, unclear boundaries, or chronic conflict — it can directly affect a young person’s ability to regulate emotions and engage in healing.
Family Coaching helps parents understand these dynamics and learn how to support recovery in ways that promote stability, accountability, and connection.
